Some great budget buys can be found by scouring the clothing lines associated with the UK’s biggest supermarkets. The quality of their offerings can often be surprising, often proving viable alternatives to designer clothes for a fraction of the price.
This is as important now as it has ever been with the current cost of living crisis leading to reduced disposable income which would otherwise be spent on updating the wardrobe. One particular dress, sold by Sainsbury’s Tu, has seen a quartet of influencers show it off in all its glory by donning it on Instagram.
The Pink Puff Sleeve Poplin Midi Dress is priced at just £22 by Sainsbury’s retail outlet. Fashion experts @carolinesstylehacks, @carolem_beauty, @stripeycoral and @fashionabell_, who have a combined 160 thousand followers between them, advertised this pretty product on the Tu clothing account.

Due to its popularity, this product is now out of stock on the Tu website. The retailer describes the dress as “made from pure cotton, this poplin midi dress in a bold pink hue with puff sleeves is an eye-catching style for the season ahead. Team with a denim jacket and a pair of chunky white trainers.”
It has received six reviews on its website, all of which were very positive as it has a clean sweep of five stars. Among the comments left include “Love this dress fits nice over bust and very flattering” and “I bought a size 16 and it fits true to size. Very comfortable to wear, dresses up or down! Looks great with sandals or trainer type shoes . Ironing is a task but very worth it as it didn’t crease too much when worn. Love it!”
Replying to the Instagram post, one of the foursome, @stripeycoral, said “Thank you! It’s such a great summer dress”. @peonie.cole.cottage exclaimed “It’s so gorgeous” while @twig_the_wonder_kid stated “Found one today in my local Sainsbury's! Could not believe my luck.”
If this isn’t quite to your taste, there are plenty of similar options advertised on the Tu site. For example, their attractive Blue Puff Sleeve Midi Dress is priced just £2 higher - at £24 - while if you fancy keeping the candy pink colour but aren’t keen on a dress, the Pink Longline Poplin Shirt at £18 could be for you.
Elsewhere, the Pink Puff Sleeve Textured Midi Dress and Lilac Shirred Poplin Midi Dress are more subtle options. Their Pastel Abstract Leaf Puff Sleeve Dress (£25) and Floral Square Neck Puff Sleeve Midi Dress (£22) feature more creative designs that could be perfect for the summer season.
