An inquest has opened into the death of an 18-year-old woman from Mansfield who is said to have “died at her own hand”. Ellie Clarke, 18, was born on April 7, 2003, and died at a property in Mansfield on February 14 earlier this year.
She was identified by her mother at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham. Assistant Coroner Gordon Clow, opening the inquest at Nottingham Council House in Old Market Square on Wednesday (August 10), said there is “evidence to suggest that she died at her own hand”.
Further details of the post-mortem will be discussed at the full hearing, Mr Clow said. The case has been adjourned pending further inquiries.

The final hearing will take place on November 17, with a pre-inquest review hearing on September 29. Mr Clow closed proceedings on Wednesday by saying: “I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ellie Clarke, in such circumstances at such a young age.”
