A number of pets have died in a Nottingham house fire. Fire crews were deployed to Pennard Walk in Clifton after a house fire broke out on the afternoon of Thursday, May 18.
The back of the home was badly damaged by the flames, which according to a neighbour almost spread to a nearby garden. A woman was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, and one dog was taken to the vet for the same thing.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said other pets in the home sadly died at the property, with local residents saying these were kittens. "At 4.28pm on Thursday, May 18, we were called to a house fire on Pennard Walk, Clifton. Crews from West Bridgford, London Road, and Stockhill attended to extinguish the fire.

"They used two breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and a positive pressure ventilator (fan) to fight the fire and clear smoke," the fire service said in a statement.
"One female was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, and one dog was taken to the vet for smoke inhalation. There were other pets in the home that sadly died at the property. We left the scene at 6.45pm."
Nottinghamshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the fire. Neighbours were relieved no residents had been seriously hurt, but some were scared by the dramatic scene as the emergency services acted to enclose the area and put out the fire.
