Free agent forward Saddiq Bey has agreed on a three-year, $20 million contract with the Washington Wizards, as confirmed by his agents. Bey, who is currently recovering from a torn ACL, will be returning to his hometown to join the Wizards, a team in the midst of a rebuilding phase. The 25-year-old Bey, who played high school basketball at DeMatha Catholic in Maryland, will have the opportunity to fully heal his knee injury with the support of the Wizards organization.
During his time with the Atlanta Hawks last season, Bey showcased his skills by averaging 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in 63 games. Prior to his stint with the Hawks, Bey started his NBA career with the Detroit Pistons after being selected as the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft from Villanova University.
Bey's journey to the Wizards began with a trade deadline deal in 2023 that brought him to Atlanta. With a career scoring average of 14.1 points from his time with the Pistons and Hawks, Bey brings a valuable scoring threat to the Wizards' young core of players.
