The brother of a suspect in the mass shooting in Sacramento that killed six people and injured 12 has also been arrested as he lay in hospital.
Smiley Martin, 27, was arrested while in hospital with serious injuries from the gunfire.
Police said he is the brother of the first suspect Dandrae, 26.
When Martin is fit for jail, the police statement revealed he will be booked for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a machine gun.
More than 100 shots were fired early Sunday in downtown Sacramento, creating a chaotic scene with hundreds of people trying desperately to get to safety.
A day later police announced the arrest of Dandrae Martin, 26, as a “related suspect” on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and being a convict carrying a loaded gun.
His first court appearance was set for Tuesday.
Video from witnesses posted on social media showed rapid gunfire for at least 45 seconds as people screamed and ran for cover.
President Joe Biden called for tougher gun laws in the wake of massacre which was the second mass shooting in the city in the last five weeks.
“Today, America once again mourns for another community devastated by gun violence,” Mr Biden said in a statement. “But we must do more than mourn; we must act.
“Ban ghost guns. Require background checks for all gun sales. Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Repeal gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability.”
The shooting started at about 2am local time on Sunday near the Golden 1 Center, home of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.
Of the 12 victims who survived, police said they were “suffering from gunshot wounds ranging from minor to critical but stable”.
Investigators said they found more than 100 spent shell casings at the scene.
The violence took place in an area recently revitalised as an entertainment centre.
It was just hours after rapper Tyler the Creator had performed at the Golden 1 Center.
