South Korean police are hunting five suspects believed to have fled to Thailand for allegedly operating an illegal gambling site involving 60 billion won (1.5 billion baht).
The five are wanted under arrest warrants issued by police in Ulsan, who asked Interpol to issue Red Notices as they are believed to remain at large in Thailand, Yonhap reported on Monday.
“We will track down the suspects who fled overseas to the bitter end through international cooperation,” the police were quoted as saying.
Ulsan is a metropolitan city in southeastern South Korea.
The five are members of a ring comprising 12 people, all in their 20s and 30s, who have been sent to prosecutors following an investigation that began in March last year.
Police acted on a tip-off to track down the ring, which allegedly lured victims into gambling online. They operated illegal betting, online casino and slot platforms between November 2022 and July 2025 in several cities, including Incheon, the South Korean news agency said.
The suspects pockted 60 billion won from the illicit operations, it added.
