The biggest story of last week for the Tennessee Titans was their free-agent visit with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, which by all accounts went well throughout, with Hopkins being particularly impressed with Nashville.
During his visit, Hopkins spoke to the man who would be throwing him the football if he signs in Tennessee, quarterback Ryan Tannehill. After practice last week, Tannehill spoke about his meeting with the veteran wideout and noted he believes Hopkins would be a good fit.
“I hadn’t been able to meet him before, so really enjoyed meeting him and his girlfriend and spending a little time together,” he said, per Titans beat writer, Paul Kuharsky. “I think he would be a good fit here, but we’ll see what happens moving forward.”
Hopkins would indeed be a great fit for the Titans, a team that desperately needs help at receiver after pretty much neglecting what was one of the team’s biggest needs going into the offseason.
Adding the 31-year-old would instantly catapult Tennessee’s group of pass-catchers from one of the worst in the NFL to formidable, as Hopkins would join talented young pass-catchers like Treylon Burks and Chig Okonkwo.
The Titans have competition for Hopkins’ services from at least one team after he met with the New England Patriots after his visit to Nashville. The Titans did their best to stay in Hopkins’ mind during that visit, though, as Tennessee remained in communication with him.
It remains to be seen if more teams will join the fray, but with Hopkins not expected to make a decision until close to training camp, there’s more time for other suitors to emerge.
