Tottenham defender Ryan Sessegnon has revealed his “devastation” at being hit by a fresh hamstring injury.
Spurs are set to be without the left-back, 23, until September after his latest setback, having been plagued by hamstring issues since joining from Fulham in 2019.
“Devastated and not really sure what to say right now,” he posted on social media.
“But I wanted to come on here and say thank you for all the kind messages I’ve received.
“Hopefully this provides a light at the end of the tunnel. I feel very hungry and motivated to return stronger than ever and be back to doing what I do best for you guys.”
Sessegnon has undergone a successful operation and is now expected to stay at Tottenham for the start of the new season.
Standard Sport understand he was keen on a fresh start at a new club, although Ange Postecoglou was yet to make a decision on his future.
Fulham, Crystal Palace, Everton, Nottingham Forest, Benfica and Marseille were among the clubs monitoring Sessegnon's situation.
