Ryan Reynolds sent Great British Bake Off fans into a meltdown after posting a snap of him in front of the show’s iconic white tent.
The Hollywood actor, best known for his performance as superhero Deadpool, posted the image on Instagram of himself alongside judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
“A full and unconditional hug of pure serotonin,” he captioned the snap.
In the photo, the self-confessed Bake Off superfan looks delighted with his arms thrown around both Prue and Paul, who are just as happy as the Hollywood star.
Ryan’s fans were stunned by his appearance in the white tent, with many suggesting the dad-of-four could be the next co-host after Matt Lucas departed the show, while others offered the Free Guy star honorary British citizenship.
“So football and Bake Off… I think Prime Minister next??? Please. For all British people everywhere,” one quipped.
“British citizenship achieved,” another added, while a fan agreed: “You’re never going back home, you’ve fully embraced the culture and weather, you’re one of us now.”
“Just give the man a UK citizenship already. Guy’s an absolute legend,” one commented.
The 46-year-old actor told People magazine in 2019 that he enjoyed watching the show alongside his wife, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.
“We live in a world that’s pretty divisive right now and there’s a lot going on and I like that show just because it’s a nice thing to watch at night.
“Everybody on the show is nice to each other, which I find refreshing. It’s not really about anything that’s going to remind you of chaos,” he explained.
Paul also shared a similar image of him, Ryan and Prue on Instagram, and wrote: “Prue and I catching up with @vancityreynolds … #legend.”
Ryan wouldn’t be the first Hollywood star to conjure up delicious baked goods in the legendary white tent.
Friends actor David Schwimmer and Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher have appeared on the celebrity version of the show, while wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson has also said he is a fan of the series.
In 2018, the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star said he would happily take part if ti was for charity.
“Baking is something I am really fascinated by, mainly because I love to eat the finished product. I would do Celebrity Bake Off if I wasn't shooting a movie – especially if it was for charity,” he told the Daily Star at the time.
