Ryan Reynolds admits he's "nervous as hell" as Wrexham prepare to face promotion rivals Notts County.
The two teams have pulled clear of the pack in the National League, but only one can gain automatic promotion to the football league. Wrexham currently hold a slender advantage, but Notts County can draw level on points when the two sides face off on Monday in Wales.
Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have become hugely invested in the club following their shock takeover. The Hollywood duo have won the hearts of the locals and are desperate to take the next step by winning promotion to League Two. Both men are regulars at the Racecourse Ground and Reynolds has opened up on his current state of mind.
He posted a picture on Instagram of him and McElhenney on the pitch at Wrexham with the words: "A big few weeks ahead for Wrexham FC. Nervy as hell". Before their clash with Notts County on Easter Monday they travel to Halifax on Good Friday.
Wrexham have only lost twice all season, both those defeats coming on the road. One of those was earlier this season when they were undone 1-0 at Meadow Lane. At home though they have been almost perfect, winning 19 and drawing one of their games at the Racecourse Ground.
Phil Parkinson's side continued their impressive form last time out as they smashed five past Oldham, who also had a man sent off. It was their fifth win on the bounce as they look to return to the football league for the first time since 2008.
Last season Reynolds saw his side miss out on automatic promotion as Stockport claimed the title and then endured the heartbreak of play-off defeat against Grimsby in a nine-goal thriller.
The American duo have lost almost £3m in a year after the club's latest accounts were published but they said: "We remain committed to playing a full part in the life of the club and making a positive difference, in every way, for the benefit of everyone in this wonderful place we have taken to our hearts."
Reynolds recently had his family in attendance at the Racecourse Ground for the first time as they saw Wrexham ease past York City 3-0. The American has declared owning the club as the "greatest experience of my entire life" and maintained that "the project will be multi-decade".
The club also recently completed a coup by signing goalkeeper Ben Foster, who had announced his retirement, but has joined up with the National League side in an effort to secure promotion.
