Russia’s Google struggling to stay running after major Ukrainian strikes

  • Russian technology giant Yandex is struggling to keep its services operational following Ukrainian drone attacks on two major data centres, including its primary Sasovo hub housing AI supercomputers, in what Zelensky described as a mirror-like response to Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure.
  • A Russian attack on a critical energy facility in Kyiv triggered widespread power cuts, water supply disruptions, and transport halts across multiple districts, forcing national grid operator Ukrenergo to impose electricity restrictions.
  • Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia have called for a European Union ban on Russian grain exports through the bloc, seeking to stop Moscow from using Baltic ports to compensate for economic damage caused by its aggression.
  • Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has publicly accused the US of an unwillingness to help Ukraine defend itself after Russian strikes killed over 70 people across two days, calling on Washington to cut economic ties with Moscow, expand Starlink access, and urge Donald Trump to increase sanction pressure.
  • US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are set to meet Ukrainian negotiators in Miami to draft a unified peace proposal, as the Kremlin agreed with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that the conflict is in a stalemate while insisting on a comprehensive long-term resolution rather than a temporary ceasefire.
