Fears of angry Wagner mercenary army fighters turning against Vladimir Putin was behind a huge weekend security operation on a giant £3billion bridge linking annexed Crimea to the Russian mainland, it is claimed.
Tourists flocking to the popular Black Sea peninsula were hit by delays of up to seven hours on the ten mile crossing.
Intense security checks were imposed on each car and all passengers using the ten-mile-long bridge from Russia.
