Russia attacks civilian vessel near Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Odesa

  • Russia attacked a civilian ship near the Black Sea port of Odesa, Kyiv reported, hours after Vladimir Putin threatened powerful retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory.
  • Russian president Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow would respond to Ukrainian attacks with retaliatory strikes that would be 'several times more powerful' and increase in scale.
  • Moscow's economy is reportedly under increasing strain due to recent Ukrainian long-range attacks on Russian refineries, tankers , and terminals, which have caused widespread fuel shortages.
  • Moscow also launched fresh attacks on Kyiv, with drone debris sparking fires in an eastern suburb and setting cars ablaze, though no casualties were reported from the Odesa ship attack.
  • Separately, six people were injured in a town outside Kharkiv, as confirmed by regional governor Oleh Syniehubov.
