Rural and Urban Olympics to start from June 23

JAIPUR: The first edition of Rajiv Gandhi Urban Olympic Games and second edition of Rural Olympic Games will start from June 23, announced Rajasthan sports minister Ashok Chandna here on Tuesday. He also inaugurated the web portal for players' registration for the Rural Games which is now operational for use.

"Last year, a budget of Rs 40 crore was sanctioned by the state government, while this year Rs 130 crore has been set aside for the two Games which will be flagged off on International Olympic Day (June 23) and conclude on International Sport Day (August 26). The Urban Games and Rural Games will be organised at three and four levels respectively," the sports minister said.
