RUPERT Lowe has announced that Restore Britain will contest an election in Scotland for the first time.
The far-right party will field a candidate in the Mid Argyll ward of Argyll and Bute Council when voters go to the polls on October 29.
Announcing the move, party leader Rupert Lowe said: “I'm pleased to say Restore Britain will be standing in our first election in Scotland, for the 'Mid Argyll' ward of Argyll and Bute council.
“We are giving patriotic Scots a genuine alternative.”
The move comes just weeks after Lowe announced his party would pursue a policy of “rolling back devolution” in a bid to “strengthen the Union”.
He said Restore Britain would seek to “disempower” those pushing for the break-up of the UK, adding that a full policy paper on rolling back devolution was being developed.
Restore Britain’s other policies include seeking “net negative” immigration, while Lowe has also suggested holding a referendum on restoring the death penalty.
Lowe recently sparked outrage in Scotland after referring to the Dunblane school massacre as “one murder” during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience. He went on to complain about his father’s shooting pistols being “taken away” as a result of the strict gun laws that were put in place as a result.
The by-election will mark the first time Restore Britain has put forward a candidate in a Scottish election.
It was called following the death of independent councillor and former Argyll and Bute provost Dougie Philand in August.
Restore Britain's George Love is one of seven candidates listed as standing in the contest, alongside candidates from the SNP, Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, Reform UK and Independence for Scotland Party, as well as an independent.
The party has already contested elections south of the Border, including through its local affiliate Great Yarmouth First, which won all ten Norfolk County Council seats it contested in May.
The Mid Argyll contest will be the first test of the party’s support among Scottish voters.
