RTE Prime Time host Sarah McInerney has highlighted some of the hypocritical comments made by a guest on the show while speaking to another presenter.
During an episode last week, Sarah spoke to Russian Ambassador to Ireland, Yuri Filatov about the situation in Ukraine.
But, as Sarah has pointed out now, his comments didn't exactly stand up too well given what's happened since.
Vladimir Putin claimed on Monday that the regions of Donetsk and Lushank are 'independent' from Ukraine.
This was in direct contrast to what Mr Filatov told Sarah.
She pointed this out in a tweet, writing: "One week ago, the Russian Ambassador also told Prime Time:
- the idea #Russia would invade #Ukraine was “insane”;
- that military exercises would end on Feb 20th
- that troops around the border would return to normal duties within 3-4 weeks."
Sarah was responding to further comments from Mr Filatov to her fellow presenter on Today with Claire Byrne.
On Tuesday, he said: "The decision to recognise the republics of Donetsk and Luhansk was not spontaneous, it was long overdue. The aim is to protect the people of Donbass from Ukrainian military.
"It has come to the point, either we protect people, either we ensure peace or there will be continuous suffering for all these people."
Many believed that the move is an early tactic by the Kremlin to see what sanctions would arrive - which began this morning from both the UK and the US.
