RTE Late Late Show viewers reveal thoughts on Dermot Bannon's Valentine's Day special appearance

Friday night's Late Late Show saw a celebration of romance ahead of Valentine's Day on Monday.

The special episode saw one one Mullingar couple get engaged live on air.

Single audience members were paired up during a blind dating segment and a Veiled Singer performance from Cliona Hagan also caused a stir among viewers, the Irish Mirror reports.

However, it was the appearance of one RTE favourite that had many people taking to social media during the show.

Architect Dermot Bannon joined host Ryan Tubridy to discuss his love life, and even revealed that he was once a contestant on the legendary Blind Date show as a young man.

Not everyone was happy to see the Room to Improve presenter on the programme, with many commenting on the frequency of his appearances on the Late Late.

One person joked: "Ryan Tubridy at 8:30pm going down to release Dermot Bannon from the RTE Basement."

A second said: "We are only 2 months into 2022 and Dermot Bannon already has TWO #latelate appearances.. #latelateshow."

A third said: "Linda Martin on the phone to her lawyer when she hears Dermot Bannon has overtaken her as RTÉs 'most wheeled out guest'."

A fourth viewer wrote: "It wouldn't be the Valentines Late Late Show without its most featured guest, Dermot Bannon."

Another person commented: "Dermot Bannon is on the late late show more than Ryan Tubridy."

Someone else said: "I'd say Dermot Bannon also appears if you say 'big windows' #latelate."

One viewer questioned: "Is this a repeat? It must be because Dermot Bannon is on. Dear god. #latelate."

While another said: "The Late Late even found a way to work Dermot Bannon into the Valentines episode. #latelate."

And someone else stated: "Death, taxes and Dermot Bannon on the Late Late."
