RTE Late Late Show viewers hail 'banter' between Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as they chat about new movie

RTE Late Late Show viewers were delighted to see Hollywood stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson chat to Ryan Tubridy on Friday night's show, ahead of the release of their new movie 'The Banshees of Inisherin.'

The two actors had previously worked together in crime/comedy film In Bruges which was released in 2008, going on to have cult status among fans. The actors were reunited in their new film 'The Banshees of Inisherin', which was directed by Martin McDonagh.

Speaking to Ryan Tubridy, Colin Farrell said that the film looks at the "severance of a relationship, a friendship' as his character Padraic is left devastated when his buddy Colm puts an end to their long-standing friendship.

Colin said: "It's a severance of a relationship, a friendship and over the 90 minutes the film shows how it peters out and how it affects the community. It gets very dark."

Both Colin and Brendan said that they loved being back in Ireland to film The Banshees of Inisherin, which was shot on Inishmore and Achill Island off the West Coast of Ireland. Colin and Brendan attended the premiere of their new film at the Lighthouse Cinema earlier tonight. U2 frontman Bono, film director Jim Sheridan and Domhnall Gleeson were also in attendance on the night.

Bono was joined by his wife Ali Hewson as the pair smiled and posed for photographs with Gleeson, Farrell and McDonagh.

Taking to social media, Twitters users praised the duo for their down-to-earth approach to life. One person tweeted: "Colin Farrell is just an absolute dude while Brendan Gleeson is a Don. Two great lads."

A second person tweeted: "Such a fantastic and funny interview." A third commented: "Aw I am WEAK over the banter between Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson -- what a bromance."

The Banshees of Inisherin is out in Irish cinemas on 21 October.
