Construction of the royal crematorium complex for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother is progressing as planned and is expected to be completed by Oct 31, officials said on Friday.
Deputy Prime Minister Suphajee Suthumpun on Friday inspected construction work at Sanam Luang, as well as restoration efforts at the royal chariot workshop at the National Museum.
Ms Suphajee, who chairs the committee overseeing construction of the crematorium and related structures for the royal cremation ceremony, instructed officials to ensure all work strictly adheres to royal traditions and is carried out with dignity befitting the occasion.
She also appointed a subcommittee to advise on the project, including preparations for an exhibition related to the royal cremation ceremony.
During the visit, Ms Suphajee reviewed progress on full-scale architectural models, decorative designs and ceremonial components, including the sandalwood royal urn and coffin, which are being produced under the supervision of the Fine Arts Department.
Fine Arts Department director-general Phnombootra Chandrajoti said overall progress stood at 23.65%, with foundation work completed and the structural framework 50% finished.
Construction of the Song Tham Hall, the royal pavilion for the ceremony, has reached 60%, while more than 30 architectural specialists have been mobilised to support detailed design work.
