Stewart Robertson has backed underfire Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson as "outstanding" at the club's AGM today.
One shareholder took aim at the recruitment at Ibrox as he labelled Wilson a "disaster" in the process.
In a question to the board, he said: "In terms of signings under Ross Wilson on the whole they have been a disaster and failed. Why did you sanction a centre-back from Hearts with that injury record? Do the board believe Wilson is the right man to be doing this job?"
The disgruntled fan was disappointed with the signing of Scotland international John Souttar, but Wilson was quick to defend himself and the Gers player. He also responded to criticism for the addition of Juninho Bacuna from Huddersfield.
He said: "Without being too direct none of the figures you quoted are correct. I don’t sign football players. Bacuna was a free transfer suggested by the coaching staff we made a profit on him.
"We went into the Soutter signing with our eyes open we believe he will contribute. Not every player needs to play 60 matches a season but we need Scottish players."
Managing director Robertson also was fully behind Wilson, adding: "Yes we do. The progress under Ross Wilson has been outstanding."
