ROSS CALLACHAN insists Ross County were worthy of a share of the spoils after being left with nothing to show for their efforts against Rangers.
And the midfielder reckons the Staggies will have nothing to fear against Dundee United this week if they can replicate their Dingwall showing at Tannadice.
A first half strike from John Lundstram was enough to earn a third successive win for new Ibrox boss Michael Beale as Rangers claimed the points in a low-key encounter.
That was enough to keep the visitors in the Premiership title race after they followed up their victories at home to Hibernian and away to Aberdeen.
It is the battle at the other end of the table that is of most concern to Malky Mackay's side, however, and the Staggies are heading into the United clash in high spirits on the back of their positive performance on home soil.
Callachan said: “We will take confidence from Friday’s game because sometimes the score doesn’t reflect how you play.
“We put in a very strong team performance and we had individuals doing really well too.
“I think we genuinely should be going into the Dundee United game with confidence because of that.
“We more than matched one of the best teams in Scotland and if we play like that against United I’m confident we’ll win.
“We deserved at least a draw from Rangers because we limited them to a few chances. We didn’t take ours and that was the difference.
“The game was open at the end, it was like a game of basketball with both teams having chances.
“Ross Laidlaw made a great save to keep it at 1-0 but we just couldn’t get there at the other end in the last few minutes.
“You have to take your chances in games against Rangers and Celtic because they are few and far between.
“We had two big ones in the first half which we didn’t make the most of and they punished us with a good goal from John Lundstram. That was what won them the game in the end - that was it."
