Ross Barkley suffers new blow as Nice make brutal decision on ex-Everton midfielder

Former Everton midfielder Ross Barkley could be dealt another blow in his career after reports in France have suggested he has been left out of OGC Nice's UEFA Europa Conference League side.

The Blues academy product wasn't registered in time for the group phase after he signed for the Ligue 1 outfit after the summer transfer window following his release from Chelsea by mutual consent.

His time in London wasn't as he envisaged after his high-profile departure from Goodison Park, he made 100 appearances across four years - struggling to cement a starting berth at Stamford Bridge with a loan spell at Aston Villa during that period.

The 29-year-old has received a blow in his European aspirations as their January signings Terem Moffi and midfielder Youssouf Ndayishimiye have been included in the squad, it has been said via Get French Football News.

It has been said that Barkley was expecting to be the third addition for their knockout campaign in the Conference League but they have opted for Badredine Bounanani. Arsenal loanee Nicolas Pepe made six appearances in the competition, scoring twice and it has been said that the youngsters' inclusion is due to the Ivorian's injury.

He has made 15 league appearances since arriving at the Ligue 1 side, scoring three times but he won't feature in their quest for European success. They will discover who their last 16 opponents will be at the end of the month.
