Rangers have been offered the chance to sign Ross Barkley after his departure from Chelsea, according to reports.
Football Scotland claim that the 33-capped England international has been put to the Light Blues ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline day. Barkley was linked with a move to Celtic earlier this window alongside a host of Premier League sides, but now it is their Glasgow rivals who feature most prominently with his services.
Chelsea confirmed earlier this week they had came to an agreement to mutually terminate the 28-year-old's contract, which was said to be worth around an eye-watering 200k a week at Stamford Bridge. Barkley's name has come up in Rangers discussions after his agent floated his name to club's recruitment but that financial package is 'the obvious deterrent.' A deal would need to be done so that the Premiership side aren't paying anywhere near those rates found in the Premier League.

Boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has two more days to add to his squad before the end of the window until winter's opens in January.
There's still players currently at Rangers to decide their futures, with Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent in the final year of their contracts.
Before Saturday's derby with Celtic, they will take on Queen of the South in Premier Sports Cup last 16 action at Ibrox.
