Oh boy. There’s A LOT to unpack from Rory McIlroy’s meeting with reporters on Wednesday at the Dubai Desert Classic, and it involves serious beef with Patrick Reed (who has been known to be litigious and petty as of late).
A report said that Reed tried to say hi to McIlroy on Tuesday at the driving range, but McIlroy — among the most outspoken against LIV Golf, which Reed is now a part of — didn’t greet the golfer. Apparently, Reed threw a tee at McIlroy.
McIlroy was asked about all this and has played some of it down. But he also had plenty of shade to throw, especially after Reed’s lawyer subpoenaed him on Christmas Eve last year:
It's hard to tell, but I don't think Rory McIlroy likes Patrick Reed very much.pic.twitter.com/leVEGiGrLz

"I just didn't want to talk to him."

Rory didn’t see the tee that Patrick Reed reportedly threw at him but did get a Christmas Eve subpoena from Reed. Can’t make this stuff up pic.twitter.com/Bfjbk9ATsY
