Rory McIlroy expressed disappointment over Jon Rahm's rejection of a "generous" deal from the DP World Tour, which would have secured his Ryder Cup eligibility.
The deal required LIV players to pay outstanding fines, drop appeals and commit to playing additional tour events, with eight out of nine players accepting.
Rahm refused the offer, calling it "extortion”, and is continuing to appeal reported fines exceeding £2 million.
Should Rahm lose his appeal and not pay the fines, his DP World Tour membership and, consequently, his ability to participate in the Ryder Cup would be jeopardised.
McIlroy emphasised that the Ryder Cup transcends individual players, stating that membership of the DP World Tour and adherence to its rules are prerequisites for participation.
