Rory McIlroy closed to within five shots of the lead at the halfway point of the US PGA Championship.
The 37-year-old’s round of 67 was enough to not only ensure he made the cut, which was far from certain after a four-over opening round which he described as “s***”, but kept alive potential of a victory push.
