Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has begun training camp unable to practice on PUP (physically unable to perform list) as he continues to recover from offseason surgery to repair a torn ACL.
That puts Colt McCoy in the starting role getting first-team reps in training camp with the offense.
In the battle of the team’s third quarterback on the roster and likely backup once the season starts, the early leader appears to be rookie Clayton Tune.
Tune, selected in the fifth round of this year’s NFL draft, got the team’s second-team offensive reps in Thursday’s first open practice of training camp.

Tune is in a competition with David Blough, who started the final two games of last season for Arizona, and Jeff Driskel, signed this offseason.
Tune will probably get plenty of opportunities in camp and the preseason to prove he is worth keeping on the roster.
We will have to see if head coach Jonathan Gannon will rotate who gets the second-team reps behind McCoy while Murray is out. The Cardinals and practice Friday and Saturday before a day off on Sunday.
If Tune continues to run the second-team offense, it would appear that he is in the lead to win that No. 3 quarterback job on the roster.
