Ronan Darcy's first words after Bolton Wanderers loan exit with transfer to Queen's Park

Ronan Darcy has left Bolton Wanderers for the second time on loan this season and has joined Scottish side Queen's Park for the rest of the campaign.

The 21-year-old has recently been back at Wanderers having spent the first half of the season out on loan at Sogndal in Norway.

Academy product Darcy played nine times for the Norwegian side and recently played his first game of the season for Bolton earlier in January.

The question of whether Darcy - who earlier in the season put pen to paper on a new contract at Wanderers until the summer of 2023 - might now head back on loan to pick up more experience and get more minutes under his belt had risen..

Ian Evatt had admitted a decision would be taken towards the end of the window if Darcy would be shipped out again to get more experience in men's football.

And that decision has now been made with Darcy joining the Spiders on loan for the rest of the campaign in Scottish League One in a late transfer window departure.

A Wanderers statement read: "The attacking midfielder – who has made 35 senior appearances for the Whites after coming through the club’s Academy system – spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at Norwegian club Sogndal.

"Since his return to Wanderers at the start of January he has featured once off the bench in League One for Ian Evatt’s side.

"But following the arrival of attacking players Dion Charles, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Kieran Sadlier during January, the 21-year-old has been allowed to move north of the border to join the promotion-chasing Spiders, whose squad includes former Wanderer Luca Connell on loan from Celtic.

"Everyone at Wanderers wishes Ronan well during his time in Glasgow."

Darcy said: "“I’m delighted to have signed for the club.

"Having spoken to a couple of the players and staff members, it’s obvious Queen’s are a club with huge ambition which matches my own and I’m looking forward to getting started.

"I can’t wait to get in, meet the lads and hope I can help drive the push for promotion”
