Over a year since his last game as an Inter Milan player, Romelu Lukaku scored on his first appearance for the Italian giants during a pre-season friendly win against fifth-tier side FC Milanese, sending an early message to those not exactly thrilled by his return.
The Belgian, a hugely popular figure at the San Siro before leaving for Chelsea in the summer of 2017, completed a loan move back to the Serie A side last month.
While instrumental in their title win under Antonio Conte’s stewardship during the 2020/21 season, the 29-year-old invoked the ire of the club’s ultras, who insisted they would not forgive Lukaku’s “betrayal”.
The forward, however, got off to a good start with the Nerazzurri, getting on the scoresheet in a 10-0 win for Inter and once again linking up with Lautaro Martinez.

Inter could not defend their Serie A title and lost out to city rivals AC last season but will be among the favourites heading into the new campaign.
At Chelsea, Raheem Sterling is set to become a marquee replacement for Lukaku, with the Manchester City and England forward closing in on a move worth an initial £45m.
