Rodrigo's Leeds United exit imminent with Qatar transfer set to be announced

Leeds United striker Rodrigo will complete a transfer to Qatari side Al-Rayyan by the end of the day, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Spain international is among a host of first-team stars expected to depart Elland Road this summer following the Whites' relegation from the Premier League.

Rodrigo arrived in a club-record deal in August 2020, and struggled for consistency during his three seasons with the club. However, the 32-year-old enjoyed his best goalscoring return last term despite the team's struggles, netting 13 times in the league to take his overall record to 28 strikes in 95 appearances.

Everton were heavily linked with a move for the veteran striker, while Atletico Madrid emerged as surprise potential suitors in recent days. However, the Leeds striker seems to have spurned any interest to remain in the Premier League or European football.

Romano's update on Rodrigo's future came on Wednesday morning, with the forward said to be undergoing a medical ahead of the transfer. The transfer expert reports a deal should be signing by the end of the day, with no indication at this stage over any transfer fee or contract length.
