Rod Stewart auctions signed teapot with wife Penny as people praise 'life changing' charity

Sir Rod Stewart is auctioning a signed teapot alongside his wife with many people praising the chosen charity.

Taking to Instagram, the Maggie May singer is snapped in a picture holding the signed gold and white pot with his wife, Penny Lancaster, standing by his side.

Hailing both of their signatures, Rod wrote: "Fancy a cuppa? We’ve donated our favourite teapot to @SmileTrainUK’s celebri-TEA auction, to help fund lifesaving treatment for cleft-affected children in need around the world.

"The auction launched today to mark the start of Smile Train’s annual fundraiser, the #BigSmileTeaParty – which encourages people to donate the cost of a cuppa and host a tea party with friends and family, raising vital funds that will change a child's life forever."

The teapot, so far, has 56 bids with the highest being £555. with four days left for people to put in their highest to win the teapot.

Other celebrities are also taking part in the charity auction with stars like Alison Hammond, Dame Joanna Lumley, Gino D'Acampo and Dame Helen Mirren all selling their signed teapots.

Taking to the comments, people were quick to praise the singer and the charity itself with one saying: "It's lovely you are helping such a wonderful charity. I fundraise for epilepsy charities and young carer charities and donated epilepsy information packs to schools and charities so helping charities is very close to my heart. You are making such a positive difference to so many people."

Another added: "One of my favourite causes to donate to. These surgeries are life changing for these precious children and their families."

"So very proud of you, Mr. Stewart and your lovely wife. Round of applause" commented a third.

It's not the first time the 78-year-old has signed something to help a charity with the couple having recently promoted a football charity aimed at helping disadvantaged children who are trying to get into the sport.

Posting a short video on his Instagram stories, the Hoops-daft fan encouraged his followers to "donate a boot or two" to charity 'The BootRoom', with the organisation helping disadvantaged kids across the county get into football.
