Unlike most game nights, Wednesday’s postgame press conference with credentialed media reporters wasn’t the only opportunity for Rockets fans to hear directly from Houston’s players and coaches.
That’s because Wednesday was officially “social media night” at Toyota Center, with the ticket package including an opportunity for fans to participate in an on-court panel discussion with rookie big man Alperen Sengun and guard Josh Christopher. As it turned out, fellow rookie Jalen Green ended up stopping by and making his own news.
In comments to fans after Wednesday’s game, Sengun and Christopher shared both on-court and off-court insights, including the importance of not becoming consumed by social media to the extent that it might interfere with their focus and development on the basketball court.
As for Green, he appeared to confirm the long-held suspicion that he will switch his jersey number with the Rockets from No. 0 to No. 4 by next season. The No. 4 jersey belonged to Danuel House Jr. at the start of Green’s rookie season, and while House has since been released, the window for Green to change his number won’t open until the offseason.
