Robbie Neilson has addressed Hearts interest in bringing Garang Kuol to Tynecastle - admitting they face a battle to land the wonderkid on loan this month.
Newcastle United have only just landed the talented attacker from Central Coast Mariners and are looking to send him out on loan for the second half of the season to gain vital first team experience Hearts chiefs have been in touch with the big-spending Premier League club to ask about teenage prodigy Kuol’s availability, with the 18-year-old hinting at a move to Gorgie on social media posting snaps of his visit to Edinburgh.
The Newcastle hierarchy are still considering their options although they are open to a move for the new signing to Scotland, the English Championship and a number of European clubs, but Hearts hope a Scottish Premiership reunion could be on the cards with Kye Rowles previously playing alongside Kuol in Australia. However, Neilson admits it could come down to what other clubs are tracking the talent.
Neilson said: “He's a player we're interested in so he came up for a look around with his agent. He's got a number of clubs that are very interested in him. He's a huge prospect. He's one we've known about for quite a long time because he comes from the same team as Kye Rowles was at. The opportunity came to speak to him so we brought him up and we'll see where it goes. It's still at the very early stages.
"It will depend what other clubs are in for him. We'd love to get him here but we'll just have to wait and see because he's an 18-year-old who has been playing at the World Cup so I'm sure there will be a lot of suitors."
