Police want to talk to an Uber or other rideshare driver who may have carried a group of robbers away from a party where they had committed multiple assaults and thefts.
In the early hours of Sunday, September 29, police and emergency services were called to the gathering near Sutton Road in Kowen Forest.
Partygoers told them that a group of men of Pacific Islander appearance attended the party in a silver van and began demanding cash and items of value from them.
The police now believe that some of the alleged offenders may have got away in a ride-share car. They have identified some suspects but would like to talk to the driver.
"Following investigations, police believe there were at least 20 victims who were robbed or assaulted during the incident," ACT Policing said in a statement.
"The group of approximately eight alleged offenders fled the scene in a rideshare vehicle, possibly a silver Kia Carnival or similar, before police and emergency services arrived."
The offenders were dressed in black.
Multiple robbery and assault victims were identified by police and two people were transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Police are calling for people with information who have not already spoken to police to come forward.
"Police would like to speak to the rideshare driver who picked up the alleged offenders from the scene and transported them to the Canberra CBD in the early hours of Sunday, 29 September 2024.
"While police have identified a group of suspects, anyone who can assist police in relation to this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote 7862603. Information can be provided anonymously."
