Rob Holding: Gary Neville slams ‘madness’ from ‘erratic’ Arsenal star after Tottenham red card

Arsenal defender Rob Holding was sent off just over half an hour into Thursday’s fiery north London derby.

The 26-year-old, who has impressed when called upon in recent weeks, was given a torrid evening by Heung-min Son and picked up two yellow cards within the opening 32 minutes.

After clashing earlier in the game, Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville claimed it was “ego” that led to Holding hauling the Spurs man back after the South Korean international had turned him on the sidelines.

Neville had also pointed at that the former Bolton youngster needed to “calm down” inside a raucous Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Harry Kane then fired Spurs in-front from the penalty spot after Cedric Soares was adjudged to have fouled Son.

Ten minutes or so later, Holding would be giving his marching orders, stepping across Son once more and using his arm to cut the Spurs forward off.

“Oh my goodness,” said Neville,

“I’m watching the run and I think he has a little jab with his elbow. He’s saying it’s his shoulder but it’s madness from Holding.

“He’s been erratic, he’s lacked composure, he’s been rash and he’s off.
