Roar ALW midfielder Gorry in Swedish deal

Brisbane and Matildas midfielder Katrina Gorry has agreed to terms with Swedish club Vittsjo GIK. (AAP)

Matildas midfielder Katrina Gorry is heading to Sweden, having signed for Damallsvenskan club Vittsjo GIK.

But the 29-year-old, who has been influential for Brisbane during the A-League Women's season, will remain with the side for the rest of the campaign, including Wednesday's tough test against table-topping Sydney FC.

Gorry will link with former Roar teammate Clare Polkinghorne at her new side, with the Matildas defender having been with Vittsjo since last year.

"I'm really excited to be joining Vittsjo GIK for the upcoming season," Gorry told her new club's website.

"I've heard a lot of positive things about the club and team. I'm looking forward to getting over there and meeting everyone."

The new Damallsvenskan season begins on March 27.

Meanwhile, the Roar have received a welcome boost with captain Ayesha Norrie cleared of significant damage from a collision in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Melbourne City.

Brisbane's physio Will Thwaite said an MRI scan revealed a minor ankle issue that was "unlikely to interrupt" her season.

"We had an MRI yesterday with really good results ... no major structural damage and she's feeling really good today, so it's all looking really positive after what initially looked like it could have been a big injury," he told the Roar's website.

But even with their two star midfielders in the line-up, Brisbane will be up against it taking on a Sydney FC side that has conceded just one goal in their eight-game unbeaten start to the season.

The Roar are seven points behind fourth-placed Perth and would need a serious run of form to close that gap in the race for ALW finals.

The Sky Blues have kept seven straight clean sheets including in their most recent outing against Melbourne City, where two Rachel Lowe goals earned them a 3-0 win.
