Drivers are being warned to expect delays this month as maintenance work takes place on a busy route in Renfrewshire.
A project to improve the condition of the A737 carriageway between St James’ Interchange and Howwood will lead to temporary closures.
Work began on Monday, January 9 and is scheduled to end on Friday, February 3 – with disruption expected between the hours of 8pm and 6am.
The scheme will be undertaken in six phases, starting with overnight closures of the A737 between Howwood and Johnstone northbound from Monday, January 9 to Thursday, January 12.
During this time, northbound traffic will exit at the Howwood junction and travel via the B787 Beith Road to Overton Road.
From here, vehicles will follow Thorn Brae and at the High Street will rejoin the A737 north at Johnstone (Barrochan Road).
The second phase of works will take place between Friday, January 13 and Monday, January 23.
This will involve overnight closures of the A737 northbound carriageway from Howwood to Johnston between 8pm and 10pm, and Howwood to St James’ between 10pm and 6am each day.
As per phase one, the Kilbarchan northbound on-slip will be closed, with traffic following local diversions to join the above diversion on Beith Road.
Between Friday, January 13 and Thursday, January 19, and on Monday, January 23, the northbound A737 between Johnstone and Linclive Interchange at Linwood will remain open during the section of works after 10pm, with the Linclive Interchange at Linwood on-slip closed.
Northbound traffic will be diverted to follow Linwood Road and join the above diversion at the A761 Main Road.
The A737 between Linclive Interchange at Linwood and Johnstone southbound will be shut overnight during phase three, which will take place from Friday, January 20 to Sunday, January 22.
Southbound traffic will be directed to follow Linwood Road to the A761 Main Road and will continue via High Street to Barrochan Road to rejoin the A737 south.
Phase four will see Howwood and Johnstone northbound, as well as Johnstone and Howwood southbound, closed between Tuesday, January 24 and Sunday, January 29.
Northbound traffic will exit at the Howwood Junction to follow the B787 Beith Road and continue on Overton Road to Thorn Brae.
From here, vehicles will travel to High Street to rejoin the northbound A737 at Johnstone (Barrochan Road).
During phase five, which runs from Monday, January 30 to Friday, February 3, there will be overnight closures of the A737 between Johnstone and Howwood southbound.
Southbound traffic will exit at Barrochan Road to follow the High Street onto Thorn Brae and Thornhill to join the B787 Beith Road and then rejoin the A737 at Howwood.
Finally, the A737 between St James and Linwood southbound will be shut overnight on Wednesday, February 1 and Thursday, February 2.
Southbound traffic will be diverted at St James Interchange to follow the A726 to the A761 then onto the A789 Main Road to take Linwood Road to access Linwood, or the B787 Beith Road to rejoin the A737 at Howwood.
