Road rage: Midnight outing leads to ordeal in Sector 16

CHANDIGARH: A woman and two men were injured and their car damaged in a case of road rage in Sector 16 on Saturday late night.

Vishal Soni of Zirakpur said he, his cousins, sisters, wife and other relatives were going towards Panjab University in two cars, a Maruti Brezza and Honda Amaze, at 12.30 am.

As they reached near Matka Chowk, a white colour i20 Hyundai car having three occupants hit the Brezza car and sped towards Sector 16. Soni chased them in his Honda Amaze car and found the three standing near house number 280 in Sector 16. Soni alleged as the accused noticed them, they started assaulting them with sticks, bricks and sharp-edged weapons.

When his sister tried to record the incident with her mobile phone, the accused hit her with a stick, he alleged. He claimed he requested a cop deployed as a guard outside the house for help, but he refused. The accused allegedly damaged windscreens of Amaze car and fled. Soni alleged one of the accused was carrying a firearm. He said there were two women with the accused and all were apparently under the influence of liquor.

Soni called police helpline112. A PCR with sub-inspector Lakhwinder Singh from Sector 3 police station reached. Sources said with many CCTV cameras at Matka Chowk, identifying the accused was hardly a task.
