CHENNAI: P Ramakrishan*, who boarded the second AC coach of Charminar Express at Tambaram was in for a shock. There were no blankets or linen onboard. He did not bring any and there was hardly any time to buy from the station. Similar experiences have been faced by several passengers. Senior citizens suffer the most.
The railway ministry's order that supply of linen and woollen blankets will be resumed on trains before assessing if the materials are available has inconvenienced the passengers. As the order stated that it will be resumed with immediate effect, many people who do not bring their own sheets or pillows are getting inconvenienced in air conditioned coaches. Many have been taking to social media blaming the railways for not intimating them in advance.
Though the railway ministry's order was issued mid-March, Southern Railway has neither resumed the service on all the trains nor has it started to inform passengers that linen and blankets will not be available in the coaches.
