Chelsea have been told to make a move for Brighton’s Leandro Trossard.
While Marc Cucurella was the first arrival at Stamford Bridge from the south coast club this year, it was Graham Potter’s move that started a wave of further incomings.
The Blues boss brought him with his entire backroom team as well as recruitment analyst Kyle Macaulay and co-owner Todd Boehly is also keen on a move to Brighton’s head of recruitment, Paul Winstanley.
Despite such a raid, the two clubs have a good relationship after Boehly showed good knowledge of how the Seagulls operate during various Premier League meetings.
As such, it would hardly be a surprise to see Potter move for a player he knows well during his first transfer window in charge in south west London.
Belgium international Trossard has excelled this season, scoring seven times in 12 appearances and is able to operate across a number of positions, a trait that made him a key player under a tactically versatile coach such as Potter.
Goals have proven something of a problem at Chelsea of late, with the team having scored only twice in their last three League outings, while Trossard scored in Brighton’s 4-1 win over their former boss on Saturday.
Speaking on his Vibe with Five Podcast, pundit Rio Ferdinand said: “Trossard, he’s one of the players I’ve heard there hasn’t even been a bid for him since he’s been there, someone told me.
“This guy is doing major bits right now. If Potter doesn’t go back there to try and sign him I’d be amazed.
“The best part of his game is being creative. He’s just scored a few goals lately, that’s not even his game.
“I think the creative and the approach play in his game is unreal. The only thing I was asking for before was a bit more end product and he’s actually doing that now.”
