Rihanna has reacted to her first-ever Golden Globe Award nomination by taking to Twitter to celebrate the feat.
The 34-year-old faces some stiff competition from Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga as they battle it out in the category of best original song after RiRi was nominated for Lift Me Up, which was recorded for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The film’s director, Ryan Coogler, had previously told the PA news agency she had been "very clear" her attachment to the project is in honour of its late star Chadwick Boseman.
She took to the social media platform shortly after the nominations for the best original song category were revealed by Orange Is The New Black star Selenis Leyva, who stepped in for George Lopez after he tested positive for coronavirus, and Mayan Lopez live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Monday.
Rihanna wrote: "God be showin out!" followed by a praying hands emoji and red love heart. She also tagged to the Golden Globes' official Twitter account.
At the time of writing, Rihanna's tweet garnered over 20,000 likes and over 3,000 retweets and quote tweets.
While the Umbrella hitmaker celebrated her maiden Golden Globes nomination, fellow pop superstars Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga have had plenty of experience at the glitzy awards ceremony.
This is Taylor's fourth nomination at the Golden Globes, which honours the best in film and American television across each year. She was nominated for 2011's Safe & Sound from The Hunger Games, Sweeter than Fiction from One Chance in 2013 and most recently in 2019 for Beautiful Ghosts from the film Cats.
Lady Gaga has already won the best original song gong in Shallow from the remake of A Star Is Born co-starring her and Bradley Cooper in 2018.
The singer-turned-Hollywood actress, 36, also won the best actress Golden Globe in 2016 for her role in the TV series American Horror Story: Hotel and has since starred in critically-acclaimed 2021 film House of Gucci alongside Al Pacino, Adam Driver and Jared Leto.
Other nominees for best original song include Naatu Naatu, from the film RRR and Ciao Papa, from Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.
The 80th edition of the awards ceremony takes place on Tuesday January 10, 2023 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA and will be hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael.
