Ridvan Yilmaz's agent has shut down down any possibility of the player leaving Rangers next month.
The defender was only signed by former Light Blues boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst in July for around £4m, but has failed to dislodge first choice left-back Borna Barisic. The 21-year old has made just seven appearances for the Gers this season, and just three times in the Premiership.
He made his Rangers debut in the 3-1 victory against Queen of the South in the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup at the end of August. However Yilmaz then sat on the bench for the six matches, and had to wait till the 8th of October for his next appearance, coming off the bench for the last 13 minutes in a 4-0 triumph v St Mirren. The defender made his Champions League bow for the club as another late sub in 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, and then played 90 minutes in Rangers' penultimate Group A fixture where they lost 3-0 to Napoli in Naples.
But any hopes that the 21-year old was finally starting to establish himself in the side were firmly dashed when he picked up an injury which ruled him out of the Gers' next four games before club action was halted for the World Cup in Qatar, with his most recent appearance coming as a late substitute in the 4-1 win against Aberdeen on October 29th.
Various media outlets in his native Turkey are now reporting that the full back, who has won six caps for his country at senior level, could be set for a loan move back to the Turkish Super League in the transfer window next month. Both former club Besiktas and city rivals Galatasaray are believed to be short in the left back department, and are rumoured to be preparing loan moves for the player.
But now Yilmaz's agent Necdet Ergezen has came out to quash any talk about his client leaving the club next month, and insists that Yilmaz will not return to his home country after such a short spell in Glasgow. Speaking to Turkish media outlet Gazete Damga, he said: "It should not be forgotten that Rıdvan's transfer process was not very happy this summer. This is a project. We stand behind this, both me and the player. We did not take Rıdvan to Europe to return him to Turkey after 5 months."
Yilmaz is not expected to be fit for new manager Michael Beale's first match in charge of Rangers tomorrow when they take on Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in a friendly ahead of their Premiership return in six days time. Beale's first competitive game in charge will come on Thursday 15th December when they welcome Hibernian to Ibrox.
