Police have suspended a motorcyclist's licence and seized his motorcycle after he was caught allegedly travelling more than double the speed limit on Gungahlin Drive on Friday afternoon.
Officers were patrolling Gungahlin Drive near Barton Highway in the early afternoon when they saw the motorcyclist riding well above the speed limit of 80kmh.
The laser speed detection device recorded the motorcyclist travelling at 180kmh.
Police pulled over the 45-year-old man from Ngunnawal, suspended his licence for 90 days and seized his motorcycle.
ACT police reminded all road users of the risks posed by excessive speed, especially to motorcyclists, who are vulnerable road users facing a high risk of injury or death because of their minimal protection and travelling speed.
