Pacers coach Rick Carlisle was ejected during the second quarter of Indiana’s game against Houston on Friday evening.
Carlisle, who was visibly upset, picked up one of his two technical fouls following a no-call against Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton. Then, after Houston pushed the ball in transition that resulted in Jalen Green missing a layup, Myles Turner corralled the rebound.
But in Turner securing the ball, Carlisle still had words for the official, resulting in his second technical as Buddy Hield attempted to restrain his coach on the sideline. As a result, Carlisle earned his first ejection of the season.
In Carlisle’s absence, Pacers assistant Lloyd Pierce stepped in to assume the head coaching duties for the remainder of the game.
The Pacers, who trailed by as many as 15 to start the game, had managed to cut the deficit to 12 with 3:49 to play until halftime.
