TV presenter Richard Madeley had concerns about Martin Roberts' health weeks before he was rushed to hospital.
During a segment on Good Morning Britain on Monday, Martin spoke to Richard, who was co-presenting the show alongside Susanna Reid. He told the nation about the health scare he had, with doctors telling him he only had hours to live.
The Mirror reports that Martin had been experiencing chest pains and it was later revealed he his heart was being "strangled" by liquid. Doctors told the Homes Under The Hammer presenter that he was suffering from a cardiac tamponade - which is caused by fluid building up around the heart and putting pressure on it, meaning it cannot work properly.

Martin is now recovering in hospital following an emergency operation. He gave GMB viewers an update on his health from his hospital bed during the show.
It was during this chat that the former This Morning host explained that he had concerns for Martin's health recently. It came after a previous interview Martin did on GMB about a month ago while he was on the Polish-Ukraine border.
Richard said: "I have to say to you Martin, when Susanna and I spoke to you when you were in Medyka about a month ago, we spoke after the show and we were a bit concerned about you. You had driven pretty much non-stop across Europe to get there, and although you gave a very good account of yourself you looked exhausted. You then came home and this terrible health crisis just suddenly fell out of a clear blue sky."
Martin said: "I am aware of the signs of a heart attack, which is those things but with tingling and things. So like a bloke I thought I'll just make it through the week.
"By the time it got to Tuesday, Wednesday, I was feeling so rubbish that my wife took me to A&E, and basically I was rushed through A&E and to cut a long story short, they found that I'd actually got water or liquid around my heart, which was compressing the heart to a point where at any point it could have stopped. Unlike a normal heart attack, there is nothing you can do about it.
"You can't do the whole defibrillator or chest massage, cos the heart itself is literally being strangled. So within three to four hours, I was on an emergency operating ward, having a tube put into this sack around my heart and they drained off a litre and a half of fluid that was literally sort of strangling myself."
Speaking of the "death-giving" liquid that was drained from his chest, Martin added: "They literally saved my life Richard."
Martin initially shared the news on Twitter in a video on Thursday (April 21), with the caption: "So. Bit of a shocker. Thankfully I’m here to tell the tale…"
He then said: "Well, I have to say this isn’t where I expected to be watching Homes Under the Hammer. Little bit of good news, little bit of bad news.
"I ended up in hospital in Bath yesterday. I had a few chest pains and just feeling generally lousy, so I was brought in here and turns out I had a massive amount of fluid all around my heart, which was actually stopping my heart working.
"Had they not got rid of it, which they did in an emergency operation last night, then it’s sort of quite serious, like, hours to live kind of c***. So here I am, still around, thank goodness, thank god and angels, all those things."
Martin went on: "There’s lots of other complicated things that have happened as a result, but we will work through those, and I’ll keep you updated. Meanwhile, there’s a good TV show on that I think I’ll watch here."
