Activist's targeted Edinburgh residents SUVs yesterday because 'their gas guzzlers kill us''.
New Town locals were shocked when they woke up this morning to their car tyres having been deflated by the Tyre Extinguishers.
The activist group called the vehicles 'polluting death machines' and said owners only drive them to 'flaunt their wealth'.
The group approached over 40 SUVs in the city centre, with volunteers left each car with their tyres flat.
The group told Edinburgh Live claimed they "will be back" after finding a number of Range Rovers and Land Rover Defenders.
Taking the air out of each tyre, the group told Edinburgh Live they then left a leaflet on the windscreen explaining their actions, with the title 'Your gas guzzler kills.'
The group hope to see a ban on SUVs in urban areas, and have launched multiple movements across the UK in the hope of seeing the vehicles banned from city centres.
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Tyre Extinguishers said: “The rich of the New Town live in the centre of a city with good, cheap public transport.
"They don’t need to drive these polluting death machines. They exist only to flaunt their wealth."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers have received reports of tyres on a number of vehicles being deliberately deflated in the New Town area of Edinburgh on Monday, 11 April.
"Enquiries are ongoing.”
