As part of F1's rules overhaul for 2022 that has included a switch to ground effect cars, official tyre supplier Pirelli is also moving to 18-inch wheels.
The change, allied to a desire to have rubber that is not so sensitive to overheating, has led to the compounds shifting towards being slightly harder.
