Restaurant boss issues emotional farewell as venue closes for final time

The owner of a popular Kilmarnock venue has issued an emotional farewell after the bar closed its doors for the final time.

Bar Luca, on Bank Street, pulled down the shutters for the last time at the weekend – and boss Gary Cunningham has thanked everyone who's been through the doors over the years.

Mr Cunningham will be moving to a new local venue, renamed Olivia's Bistro, but will be catering towards the food and hot drink side of things rather than alcohol.

He said: "Well, it’s a good night from us. What a way to finish. Bar Luca was absolutely bouncing for its final send-off. We couldn’t have asked for a better ending for the venue.

"Thank you to each and every one of you who came along. Thank you to all the staff who made it possible.

"Unfortunately, we don’t always know what we have until it’s gone.

"The last cajun penne and pornstar martini has been served in the building and it will move back to its roots outwith hospitality.

"Thanks to Paul, Reece and Craig for a great DJ set.

"Thanks to my patient wife who has been there the full time and kept me going.

"Our time is over and it’s now time to move to our new venue Olivia’s. Bar Luca, we will miss you."
