This is a scene played out often in corporate rooms. An employee is called in for what looks to be a normal meeting. HR pushes a paper towards them across the table and gives them an ultimatum: resign by the end of the day or be fired. If they are laid off, they are told, it will leave a permanent black spot on their experience letter and destroy their background verification (BGV) for future jobs. Most employees are surprised and scared of being blacklisted. So they do what the company wants. They resign voluntarily.
