Resident Evil Requiem's 'Terrifying Nightmare Set' sells out in under 5 hours and includes every gamer's biggest fear: exercise equipment

Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil: Requiem.

Resident Evil Requiem looks truly terrifying, and in an effort to amp up the scares even further, Capcom's bundled the hotly-awaited sequel with every gamer's worst nightmare: exercise equipment.

More specifically, Capcom partnered with e-commerce company Yume Group for a series of unmissable commercials and the 'Terrifying Nightmare Set,' the aforementioned bundle that comes with a physical copy of Resident Evil Requiem and - brace for impact - an at-home pull-up bar.

As reported on by Automaton, enough gamers managed to set aside their fears or perhaps even embrace the nightmarish concept of working out for the ¥19,800 (about $128) set to completely sell out in under five hours. There's nothing scarier than the thought of a pull-up bar idly standing over you, monolithic and accusatory, as you sink another three hours into Resident Evil Number 30-something. Or perhaps gamers were convinced they too could get Leon Kennedy's "hot uncle" aura with a workout.

Despite the Terrifying Nightmare Set having sold out and being a Japan-exclusive deal, the collaboration is well worth it simply for the absolutely whacky commercials advertising the game. Yume Group's president Shigehiro Ishida and co-host Yuri Hoshina are hilariously photoshopped into otherwise super serious scenes from Requiem, menacingly smiling at Leon and Grace while they face actual horrors. It's amazing.

One of the two commercials even shows Grace hanging upside down from the pull-up bars, serving as both a warning for what not to do, gamers, and a nod to Resident Evil Requiem's reveal trailer, which had the co-protagonist hanging from the ceiling.

Resident Evil Requiem spoilers are apparently here 10 days ahead of launch, so prepare accordingly
